EDGE: Building the Semiconductor Workforce of the Future Through University-Industry Collaboration

Presenter: Marla Dowell, EDGE Consortium/Dartmouth College

The EDGE Consortium is a national alliance of leading research universities and engineering schools working to expand and modernize the semiconductor workforce. As the U.S. semiconductor industry scales under the CHIPS and Science Act, EDGE is building a broad, innovation-ready talent pipeline that connects students across STEM disciplines with real-world opportunities in microelectronics. This session will introduce the EDGE Scholars program—our flagship initiative that links students with industry through internships, mentorship, and hands-on learning. We invite NEMC members to engage with EDGE Scholars by offering internships, participating in speaking engagements, and co-hosting events that expose students to the challenges and opportunities shaping the future of the semiconductor industry. EDGE is designed to be open and accessible, creating pathways for students from a wide range of academic backgrounds to contribute to the nation’s microelectronics leadership. Join us to explore how your organization can collaborate with EDGE to strengthen the workforce and accelerate innovation across the Northeast and beyond.
